How to reach us

The easiest way to get a rail plan is to fill in the form on this page. You don't need to have every detail figured out — just the cities you want to connect and roughly when you're travelling. We'll work through the timetable and come back with the options that make sense for your itinerary.

If you'd rather write directly, email us at [email protected]. The desk is staffed Sunday through Thursday, 09:00 to 17:00 Cairo time (GMT+2, or GMT+3 during Egyptian summer daylight). Messages sent outside those hours are picked up on the next working day.

We're an independent planning desk, not a booking agency, so we don't take payment or issue tickets. What we send back is a written plan you take to the official booking channels — the Egyptian National Railways website, a station counter, or the sleeper operator's site — with guidance on which route to use and why.

What to include in your message

The more specific you can be, the more targeted the plan we return. Useful things to tell us:

  • Your city-to-city legs — for example, Cairo to Alexandria, then Cairo to Luxor, then Luxor to Aswan. List them in order if you know the sequence.
  • Approximate travel dates — exact dates let us check whether certain trains are running and flag any public holiday blackouts. A rough week is better than nothing.
  • Time of day preference — if you want to avoid early departures or prefer an overnight train for a long leg, say so.
  • Budget range — not required, but useful. Knowing whether you're weighing air-conditioned express versus ordinary service versus sleeper cabin helps us give relevant comparisons rather than listing every option.
  • Group size — individual, couple, or larger group. Groups above four sometimes have different booking logistics, especially for the sleeper.

What we send back

Within one working day you'll receive a written rail plan. It covers each leg in sequence: the recommended train service, the class or cabin type we suggest, the current fare range, the booking method, and any quirks specific to that route — for instance, whether a tourist fare applies, which side of the carriage has the better view, or whether a station transfer is involved. Where multiple options are genuinely comparable, we list them so you can choose.

If we need more information to give a useful answer, we'll come back with a short clarifying question rather than sending a generic plan. We'd rather take an extra exchange than give you advice that doesn't fit your actual trip.

Quick answers to common questions

No. The planning advice is free. We don't sell tickets, don't add a markup to any fare, and don't earn commission from any booking channel. Our written plan simply tells you the best way to book through official ENR channels or the sleeper operator at the published price.

No. We're a planning and information desk, not a booking agent. Our service is to give you the correct information so you can book through the right official channel yourself. For intercity express trains that means the ENR website or a station counter; for the sleeper that means the sleeper operator's own booking site.

Within one working day during office hours (Sunday–Thursday, 09:00–17:00 Cairo time). If you write on a Thursday afternoon or over the weekend, expect a reply by Monday morning. For complex multi-leg itineraries we may ask a clarifying question first, which may extend the exchange by one more day.

Not at all — groups are common on the Cairo–Luxor–Aswan corridor. Depending on your size and dates, the booking approach differs slightly: some trains can be reserved in bulk online, others need a station counter or the group desk at Cairo Ramses. We'll specify which method applies and whether splitting into smaller bookings makes more sense.

Ready to sort your Egypt trains?

Even a rough itinerary is enough to get started. We can help you compare the sleeper versus the daytime express, choose the right pass type, or navigate the booking process from outside Egypt.
